POSITIVE THINKING!

Recently I have gone through a lot! My Dad was recently diagnosed with cancer for the second time. Which was heartbreaking!
The last time he was diagnosed it really made me depressed and I could never bring myself to talk to anyone about it.

But this time I've realised I need to be a lot more positive in myself and talk to people and tell them how I'm feeling.

So I'm going to try and give you a few tips on how to get through hard times like this! And writing this is nice for me to get things off my chest, and talk to other people about it!

STAYING HAPPY! I've got my life to live, so I'm not going to let it get me down so much that it affects my work and social life. Surround yourself with people that make you smile and laugh; your best friends, boyfriend, family... And do things that make you happy or take your mind off everything! My favourite thing to do is shopping, even if I'm not buying anything! My boyfriend makes me happiest :)

EAT CHOCOLATE! And don't feel bad about it! Chocolate always makes me feel that slight bit better :) my personal fave being good old cadburys!

DON'T BE NEGATIVE! I know this is a hard one, because obviously with cancer there's risks, and it makes my dad really ill. But why dwell on that? I like to think that my dads ill because of all the treatment that's going to make him better. He's survived it once, so he can do it again! Try and always think of the positive in each situation.

KNOW THE FACTS! The word cancer scares everyone, or any other illness that's affecting you or your family. So make sure you read up about it, so you know exactly what's happening. Because everyone always just thinks the worst! Or even go to the doctors with a few questions and ask then about it so you know what is going on.

TALK TALK TALK! If your feeling crappy, which is a really common normal thing, that tell someone your feeling crap! Have a cup of tea with your best friend or go out for a drink with your sibling! Talking about things always helps, even if you don't want too! And your friend will understand if you get upset and I'm sure they will be there with a tissue and their shoulder, and maybe even a large glass of wine (or a bottle)! Or even if you don't feel like talking to someone, write it down in a diary, or even in your  notes on your phone! it gets it out of your head and somewhere else for a while.

MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Do something for a charity of just set up a direct debit. I think it makes you feel better and it really makes me feel like I'm doing my bit too help other people that are ill.
